Abstract

The Ronnie Gardiner Rhythm and Music Method in Senior Care (RGRM) study has occurred in co-operation with Bjuv County (Bjuvskommun) and was funded by the Culture Advisory Board (Kulturrådet). Our study focuses on how the use of the RGRM method is experienced by care recipients and whether or not the RGRM method has any effect on the relationship between the care recipient and the caregiver. We have seen that participation in the RGRM method activities result in not only better physical health and cognitive activity in the form of concentration, but it also creates social opportunities, encourages long-term memory recall via music and instills a feeling of belonging. Regarding the question of the RGRM-methods effect on relationships, it is first and foremost caregivers who have experienced deeper connections with their patients.
