    Abstract [en]

Many operators in the Swedish building industry consider that it is important to increase the quality of their own product and/or service. This increase of quality will lead to reduced costs and errors. With the large number of operators presented in the building process, it is a must that the transfer of experience cooperates between the operators. The different operators possess different kind of experiences and origin from various organizations, which in turn has its own culture, system and organizational form. This makes it a challenge for the leader at a project to make that the right competence and recourses is provided at the right moment in the building process. For the consultants this leads to the judgment of the design work is made from the contractor in the production stage and the stakeholder in the administration stage. The problem today is that there are no incentives in knowledge management for operators, builders and stakeholder, if they find a bad building solution or a construction error. The goal of this thesis has been to investigate whether designer use the transfer of experience in projects. Thru literature studies and interviews will a perspective of the problem and status report about experience transfer show what methods are used today. With a breakdown of an organization to an individual level and then building it upon in levels using organizational learning shows how the problem can be solved within an organization. To solve the problem between different operators the thesis will show different solutions like using partnering. The thesis will result in an example of how to transfer experience between different operators in the building process and how designers makes use of it in their different projects. To make the transfer of experience possible the workers need to have a good attitude towards sharing their knowledge between each other, as well as a working organization with a worked out plan for documentation of these experiences. A database is also needed to be established so that the workers easily gain access to different kinds of projects. Partnering is suggested thou it makes it easier for the operators to cooperate within the project. Frequent meetings are important during the project, which makes it possible to discuss present or future problems. The meetings at the start and the end of the project are important and should involve all the operators within the project. After about one to two years after the project finished there should be a follow-up-meeting with all of the operators who were active during the project. Keywords: transfer of experience, experience, knowledge management, knowledge, partnering.
