    Abstract [en]

    Around the country it has daily been more and more comments about Muslims and Islam. Muslims and Islam has been intense debated about and it is a part of many of the Swedish citizens daily round. The point with this exam has therefore been to figure out which attitudes there are and has been towards Muslims and Islam in Sweden during the 20th century, from the scientists’ descriptions. We have also chosen to examine wherefrom these attitudes might have come from and we have, in the discussion, show how the attitudes can affect Muslims. The investigation showed that the attitudes that are present, to the most part are negative and are based on what media and schoolbooks have presented. The attitudes are often harsh and demeaning and are uttered through comments like Muslims only can be seen as believers through conquering, oppressing and killing killing killing non-Muslims.
