Title Swedish working class literature and the class politics of heritage
Author(s) Nilsson, Magnus
Date 2011
Editor(s) Smith, Laurajane; Shackel, Paul; Campbell, Gary
English abstract
The main argument in this article is that the emergence of group-specific literary heritages constitutes a major challenge to the notion of national heritage, but that the promotion of working class literature as heritage also challenges the standard conceptualisation of the politics of heritage as identity or recognition politics. This argument is first presented in theoretical terms, and thereafter illustrated by an analysis of the politics of the promotion of Swedish working class literature as heritage.
