English abstract
In Yucatec Maya sources such as the Books of Chilam Balam we find texts that illuminate the processes of cultural and religious change among the Yucatec Maya. It is the focus of this paper to explore how cosmology and rituals are attributed with new meaning and how they continue to be of political and religious importance among the Maya. Today ritualituals of healing, harmony and balance are being promoted to tourists alongside with ecotourism were the natural environment is used to attract tourists as well as believers of this life style. Textual studies as well as experiences from recent fieldwork will form the empirical base for this paper that will explore Yucatec Maya Religious Change over time.
