ABSTRACT Introduction: The present study will investigate whether there is any relationship between craniofacial height and pharyngeal airway space. Material and Method: CBCT scans from 132 participants were divided into three groups depending on the craniofacial height; <27° short face, 27-37° normal face, and, > 37° long face. Further on, the volume of the pharynx and various distances in the facial morphology was measured by three observers. Results: There is a significant difference in the distance between the hyoid bone to pogonion, with a greater distance in the long faced group compared to short faced group. Significance was also found in the distance between the hyoid bone and the mandibular plane. A narrower pharyngeal airway lumen was observed in patients in the long faced group, however, not necessarily meaning a smaller volume size. Conclusion:. No significant difference in pharyngeal airway space volume could be seen on the various craniofacial heights.
