Title Students' ideas about learning science through language: What they planned and what they found
Author(s) Hägerfelth, Gun
Date 2006
English abstract
During the last semester of the teacher studies students have to write a final thesis where they are expected to show their views on learning theories and how to work according to these as teachers. In a four week lasting period of practise at their partner schools they have the opportunity to try out their ideas. This should also be seen as their first research experiences. This paper presents some becoming science teacher students´ ideas about teaching science through multimodal ways of using language as a focussed tool for learning science. The common topic was a free choice of the students. Before leaving for the practise period they had some lectures and seminars on the topic Language and content learning. Some of ideas and the reflections on what they learnt from the project will be described and discussed in this presentation.
