The role of information retrieval for increased accessibility to higher education This paper presents a study where 28 students with reading and writing disabilities were interviewed about how they use library services. The study was carried out during Spring 2003 at Malmö University in Sweden. In the study the same students also searched for information with the help of computers. The search processes were recorded and stored as digital movies by computer software. The movies have been observed and analysed. The purpose of the study was to obtain knowledge about how students searched for information. From a developmental perspective, the overall goal was to gain knowledge about how library services can improve and become more accessible for students.
